A few days’ blustery storms
have perked up the scarlet geraniums,
given heart to the last green passionfruit,
sprouted grass through my lavender cuttings,
spread a gold-leaf carpet of wisteria.
They’ve also prompted to open
a double white camellia flower
on the bush planted for my mother
when she and her twin brother
were born a century ago.
