Last year, I had the very good fortune to be commissioned by the New England Conservatorium of Music in Armidale, Australia, to write three poems for children, which would be then set to music and performed by choirs of school children at the tenth anniversary celebratory concerts of New England Sings. As those who’ve followed this blog know, the event was a big success and right now it’s attracted attention again because NECOM has just won a prestigious award at the annual APRA/AMCOS Art Music gala. I am so chuffed to think that my work–the three poems, Frosty School Morning; Midday at the Waterhole; and Lyrebird Sunset, all set to music by Harley Mead–was part of it!
