Les jardins partagés de Paris, or community gardens of Paris

In chapter 16, Arielle and her children meet up with Daniel in the jardin partagé, or shared/community garden that he’s involved with. The garden described in the book isn’t a specific one, but inspired by the many fabulous community gardens around Paris, which are open to the public at specified times, usually on the weekends. They are scattered all round the city, you can find a good description of several here: https://cooknwithclass.com/communal-gardening-paris/

Gardens that Emma and Liz visit on their tour in chapter 20  (in order):

And of course, the Luxembourg!

Just for fun, some of the beautiful flowers seen by me in various Paris gardens in May:

Peonies

Irises

Roses

And a couple of other gardens you might like to visit if you are in Paris(not mentioned in the book though, well, I couldn’t include everything 😊):

Roseraie des Arquebusiers, St Gilles/Grand Veneur Square: A lovely, tucked away rose garden in the 3rd arrondissement! https://www.sortiraparis.com/en/what-to-visit-in-paris/walks/articles/248920-square-saint-gilles-grand-veneur-the-charming-and-hidden-rose-garden-of-paris

Parc de Bagatelle, near the Bois de Boulogne

A more far-flung place, on the western outskirts of Paris, a huge, gorgeous, rambling garden—well, a park, really!—once an aristocratic estate–complete with different themed gardens, lovely old buildings, big old trees, masses of flowers—and peacocks! Many peacocks!
